A more intuitive experience for getting important work done.
BridgeAthletic sought to enhance the efficiency of its web platform, envisioning an intuitive experience that streamlines task completion and empowers users to achieve their goals.
The aim of this project was to tackle efficiency issues raised by our users and determine the critical user flows to prioritize in upcoming product releases.
Efficiency is a product-wide responsibility.
BridgeAthletic is a leading provider of strength and conditioning software designed for coaches and athletes. The platform empowers practitioners to create personalized training programs, delivered in-person or remotely, and track athlete progress using advanced analytics.
At Bridge, I was one of only two UX designers collaborating with a team of over 15 engineers. I played a pivotal role in shaping key aspects of the platform, contributing to strategically important projects that impacted the company's core offerings.
Some of my key achievements:
Bolstered user engagement by revamping the Activity Report feature so coaches could act on insights and strengthen coach-athlete engagement.
Enhanced efficiency and improved usability across the web platform.
Redesigned the onboarding flow.
Updated the design kit to improve consistency, scalability, collaboration, and quality across projects.

Coaches and trainers were not using certain features of the product and some were even abandoning the platform to perform certain tasks outside the platform. Sales and Customer Success teams came to know of these issues during regular check-ins with our primary users and documented their feedback in Pivotal Tracker stories.

Gathering insights
I gathered all the stories logged by Customer Success and conducted affinity mapping with the product team to synthesize the pains identified and group them under common themes and features in the platform.
I connected with the Sales and Customer Success teams behind the Pivotal stories to solidify my understanding of user needs, narrow down pain points with the existing journey, and define what success might look like in terms of outcome.
Make the efficiency problem visible before deciding what to fix.
The research helped me understand, identify, and group issues of efficiency across the platform. Product, Design, and Engineering used three considerations to prioritize the work and shape the roadmap.

The categorization provided the Product team with visibility over four areas of the platform that required attention and helped shape the roadmap for upcoming releases.
Move the whole group, not one athlete at a time.
Based on the information logged in Pivotal stories, conversations with Sales and Customer Success, and primary research into the dynamics of athlete movement during the season and offseason, one efficiency issue emerged as the first priority.
In major league sports like baseball and basketball, athletes are frequently moved between training groups based on performance, injuries, or fitness goals. On average, an athlete may switch groups six to seven times in a single year to align with different training programs and optimize performance or recovery.
This process became a significant pain point. Coaches and staff had to move athletes manually, one by one, making it impossible to transfer multiple athletes at once. For teams managing hundreds of athletes, this became extremely time-consuming and discouraged some coaches from fully using the platform.
Reduce the task to a confident, visible sequence.
To address the identified pain points, I began by wireframing a user-centric solution that would:
Offer the ability to select one or multiple athletes to move.
Reduce the number of steps and time spent completing the task.
Increase coaches’ visibility over athletes’ current training programs.

Test the workflow before polishing the interface.
I developed a clickable prototype and organized a testing session with the Product, Customer Success, and Engineering teams. The objective was twofold: validate whether the new designs addressed the identified pain points and assess the usability of the updated workflows.

I crafted detailed scripts with multiple scenarios, including edge cases, to simulate real-world use. Observing participants interact with the prototype surfaced feedback about usability and edge-case handling, which informed further iterations.
Stay close from first interaction to staging.
Building on feedback from the testing session, I refined the designs to address usability concerns and edge cases. I prepared a comprehensive design handoff with high-fidelity mockups and detailed annotations, then added it to Pivotal Tracker for prioritization and execution.
I connected with the front-end development team to clarify missing interactions and ensure alignment. Once developed, I conducted a UX review and tested the feature on staging to validate that it matched the design specifications and delivered the intended experience.
To support a successful rollout, I created a step-by-step video walkthrough for the Sales and Customer Success teams so they could share the solution with users and provide clear guidance on the new flow.

Efficiency work starts with staying close to the people who hear the friction first.
Since launch, we received positive user feedback regarding the new workflows, which saved time and encouraged re-engagement with product features.
Bridge the feedback gap
Regular conversations with front-facing teams like Sales and Customer Success bridge the gap between design and real-world user needs, especially when direct user interaction is limited.
Involve engineering early
Early collaboration with engineers surfaces technical constraints upfront, shapes a more informed design strategy, and reduces rework.
One priority opened the door to a broader efficiency roadmap.
This case study focused on the first prioritized item, but the other efficiency issues were also executed and released consecutively.
